eBay Strategic Partner Manager in San Jose, California

eBay is looking for a Senior Strategic Partner Manager to help support, optimize, and scale the PayPal partnership. eBay is PayPal’s largest customer and their relationship is of crucial importance and a key strategic priority for both organizations. As part of the exciting new payments organization at eBay, you will be in the front line of innovation while helping deliver business value through the current, evolving and future partnership with PayPal. The role spreads across a number of areas such as helping manage key strategic commercial and operational agreements, risk management, and supporting execution and delivery of product development. You are a highly driven individual, with a tactical focus and superb attention to details. Your vast experience navigating large organizations, identifying key stakeholders, and driving business strategy through key partnerships will help eBay achieve its financial goals. Passion for technology, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills along with a great sense of humor will be key drivers for your success in this role.


  • Help manage, optimize and scale the day-to-day PayPal relationship as a key strategic partner

  • Maintain and develop cross functional relationships across eBay and PayPal

  • Act as connector/influencer to different key stakeholders across eBay and PayPal

  • Drive planning, follow through, execution and delivery of joint initiatives

  • Support key projects including risk management, commercial agreements inventory and joint product roadmap execution.

  • Help optimize partnership initiatives and streamline communication, centralize reporting and accountability

  • Document and share initiative results and best practices based on projects performance and effectiveness

  • Help drive on-time delivery of commitments to and from PayPal to ensure partner support and satisfaction and avoid eBay’s potential exposure

  • Proactively and efficiently, manage escalations. Support weekly reporting across eBay and PayPal leadership

  • Help coordinate/organize working sessions, key meetings and quarterly business reviews with PayPal to align on upcoming opportunities

Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of relevant partner relationship management, business development, project or/and account management experience

  • Seasoned project management leader

  • Strong understanding of eBay business model and competitive landscape

  • Robust knowledge of the payments space, e-commerce and risk management

  • Ability to make thoughtful, actionable recommendations under minimal structure, and quickly build consensus with internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong understanding of eBay business model and competitive landscape

  • Technical knowledge of product integrations

  • BS/BA required and Master Degree preferred from “top tier” academic institutions

  • Highly analytical, strategic thinker and data driven, but also a creative and empirical problem solver

  • High energy, persistent personality, and excellent interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Great sense of humor
